With a resurgence of energy in downtown Turners Falls, the local planning office embarked on a study of the downtown area, resulting in a prioritized list of action items. At the top of their list were streetscape updates along the three blocks which saw the most intensive pedestrian usage.
The corner plaza highlights the energy of downtown Turners Falls, displaying public art and providing a place for people to sit and gather after shopping or during the annual fall festival. New sidewalks provide a more continuous, accessible route, while the energy efficient street lighting is in keeping with the historic character of the buildings.
